Inside the tefillin
are found the four parshas from the Torah that talk
about the tefillin commandment.
When we put on tefillin in the morning we connect ourselves to G-d. Like little radio antennas directed to Heaven, we direct our thoughts (our minds) and deeds (our hands) to learning wisdom (Torah) and to doing good deeds (mitzvahs).
The 'tefilla shel rosh' has four
separate compartments. Each one contains a parchment with one parsha about
tefillin from the Torah. The 'tefilla shel yad' has one
large compartment. All four parshas are written together on one long parchment.
