Giving, Praying

Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler, of sainted memory, explains the meaning of the Hebrew word, Ahava, or Love. The root of the word means "to give". To come close to the Holy One Blessed is He, we strive to emulate his attributes. What is His greatest attribute? To give life to the entire world. So, in the same way, do we give to those whom we love. Jewish prayer, is called a service of love.
